When a person is arrested for entering another country illegally they are charged and placed under detention by the authorities. Illegal immigrants are arrested, questioned and detained by the immigration and customs department which is given this mandate.  Friends and family members of the detained immigrants are allowed to get them released until court hearings are due. One has to be a reputable citizen who has stayed in the country for a number of years to be allowed to post the bail bond on behalf of others. Immigration bail bonds are the amounts of money that sponsors must present to the customs department to have their loved ones released from custody.

The customs department together with the immigration judges set the bail bond amount and may vary due to how serious the crime committed is and criminal history.  Before being granted immigration bail bonds, and immigration judge specifies the bail amount and the timeframe. Once the bail bond is fully paid, immigrants are released and then instructed to attend all the court hearings without failure. The immigrants are set free to live freely with their family members and requested to act accordingly to avoid termination. Delivery bond involves paying the bail bond amounts and awaiting trial in court.

Voluntary departure bail bond works by allowing immigrants to leave the country on their own free will without paying the bail. Sponsors may choose to undertake the process on their own or they could get assistance from independent bail bond agents. The process could be complicated but having a bail bond agent makes it easier as they are knowledgeable and competent. Bail bond agents request for certain details such as immigrant's particulars, location of detention and other relevant details. Immigration Public Charge Bond is eligible for those having minor criminal cases and may be paid in various forms.

Sponsors can submit the bail bonds in form of cash, credit cards, bank accounts, real estate property, and other acceptable collateral. Before leaving the country or particular state, immigrants released on bail bond must obtain permission from the courts to avoid unwanted consequences. Immigrants who obey all the rules and conditions stated may be refunded the whole bail bond posted plus the interest accumulated. The immigration judges listen and determine the case and if all rules were complied with they indicate that sponsors be refunded. The immigration and customs department sends notifications telling the sponsors to reclaim their money back once the case is determined and all rules followed.  Those who fail to follow the rules risk the bail bond getting terminated and refunds being denied by the immigration and customs department.
